Colour Play
Exhibited as part of the Singapore Biennale at the National Gallery Singapore, this installation invites visitors to sit back and peruse the works on display. Dubbed as a “support structure”, Spatial Composition 12
(2019) by British artist Celine Condorelli comprises steel and wood chairs with hooks for archival texts. “The colours (used on the chairs) come from a history of display— this particular pink was used in sculpture galleries in the UK because you can see marble sculptures a bit better against a non-white background, while the yellow is from a history of display for watercolour,” explains Condorelli.
