Relaunched by Cassina in commemoration of the Bauhaus centenary, the Elling Buffet sideboard by Dutch architect Gerrit T. Rietveld was one of key pieces representative of the modern movement. It was first created in 1919 and featured in various interior projects by its namesake architect Piet J. Elling. Although the prototype was destroyed in a fire, the sideboard was recreated under Rietveld’s supervision in 1951 for an exhibition at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam; this recent edition uses its historic carpentry in Meda.
