TIMELESS STYLE
Design destinations and cultural sites to explore in this district
SHOP: Loft
Designed by Schemata Architects, this store continues the meandering aspect of
Ginza’s backstreets. A firststorey cafe invites visitors into a 35,520sqft store with timber, terrazzo, steel, resin shelving and 3D-printed furniture that gives the space an artistic quality.
SHOP: Cibone Case
Housed in the Ginza Six department store, Cibone Case is a condensed version of the expansive furniture and lifestyle store in Minami-aoyama. The selection of furniture and objects include Nousaka brass bells, graphic stationery from Beyond Object, Sarah Petherick utensils and exquisite chiselled cups by Akihiro Woodworks.
VISIT: Tokyo International Forum
Designed by Us-based architect Rafael Viñoly, this landmark building is characterised by a soaring glass atrium with an intersecting steel roof truss that’s reminiscent of a ship’s hull. Beautifully lit at night, the venue plays host to performances and exhibitions, as well as weekend events at its open plaza.
