ANDERMATT SWISS ALPS, SWITZERLAND

-

What is it like to live on top of the world? Those who will eventually stay at Andermatt Swiss Alps, a luxury development situated 3,000m above sea level, would have a unique perspective—and a sustainable one at that.

Building a carbon-neutral community atop one of the world’s highest peaks presented plenty of challenges, and it has taken the developers nearly 15 years to realise their vision. They entrusted Belgian architect JeanMichel Gathy to create the complex, which includes six hotels, 42 apartment houses, dozens of exclusive chalets and amenities including an indoor pool, 18-hole golf course, ski resort and a clubhouse, all powered by 100 per cent renewable energy. andermatt-swissalps.ch/en
