12. COLOUR: TRUE BLUE
When you’re choosing paint colours, consider the effects of the hue and the function of your room. The restful effects of blue shades make them particularly suitable for the study and bedrooms. “If you’d like to create a space that lets you focus deeply on your projects, introduce an ombre blue wall,” shares Windy Santosa, brand marketing manager at Akzonobel, which carries Dulux paints.
Take inspiration from the Blue Willow all-day restaurant in Conrad Hangzhou (seen here). Designed by AB Concept, this dining area features a navy blue wall accentuated by a golden band and a metal screen; the use of blue was inspired by Hangzhou’s tranquil lanscape and the storied art of Chinese ceramics.
Renowned all over the world, Venetian glassmaking boasts centuries of history and stands among the storied craft-making traditions of Italy. Tapping into the beauty of Murano glass, Italian manufacturer Ref lex Angelo was among the first to combine this exquisite, handmade material with the rugged look of forged iron and wood to create unique, statement-making tables.
Working closely with its dedicated team of artisans while collaborating with leading European design firms, Ref lex Angelo has grown from strength to strength since its founding in the 1940s. Its remarkable selection pleases the eye and is a perfect synthesis of tradition, design and technology.
The Vele 72 table from
Ref lex Angelo embodies this creative alchemy. Supported by a curved metal base, its slim glass top is just 15mm thick, and available in a transparent or a tempered extra-clear finish.
The sculptural quality of the base makes the table a remarkable piece to behold, with its sinuous form akin to the graceful fins of a dolphin. Choose from titanium, brass or dark brass options for the base, which can be further customised in three configurations for its metal elements; the satin finish also elevates the base’s elegant look.
