Give a blank canvas to Sujonohun, and the talented team will transform it into an immaculate work of art, capturing beauty while integrating functionality. Helmed by Molina Hun and Sujono Lim, this dynamic design duo propels spatial concepts from vision to reality, turning simple rooms into stylish spaces.
It all started when Lim decided to strike out on his own after cutting his teeth at an architectural firm and a hotel design consultancy. Meanwhile, Hun left her job at an architect’s firm to work directly with some clients who had come to her with their home projects.
“Our purpose is to create personalised concepts with well-implemented designs and carefully executed spaces,” says Hun, who is also a part-time adjunct lecturer with the School of Spatial and Product Design at Lasalle College of the Arts. A multidisciplinary design practice that was founded in 2015, Sujonohun is helmed by interior architectural designer Sujono
Lim and interior designer Molina Hun. What began as a homebased business quickly burgeoned into a f lourishing studio at Apex@henderson as the couple’s projects rapidly outgrew them.
Light wood and an earthy palette create a calming environment in this house on Lasia Avenue; a view of the studio space that Sujonohun shares with the affilate practice Parenthesis; this minimalist apartment on Bideford Road was designed as an openplan weekend home
Blush tones add a graceful touch to a home in Telok Kurau; the botanical wallpaper is the focal point of this bathroom; the use of rattan and light wood in this kitchen alludes to the apartment’s tropical theme; black kitchen cabinetry makes the colourful backsplash pop; a red velvet armchair livens up the understated palette of this living room
When working with clients, the couple understand the importance of collaboration even as they strive to realise the full potential of each space. “As much as we want to give free rein to our creativity, our designs have to adapt to the client’s brief and budget,” says Hun. “We are explorative, and at the same time, careful in terms of execution.”
No surprise, then, that Sujonohun has many satisfied clients who happily recommend them. In fact, the Lasia Avenue house was so well-received that the studio landed several other jobs through favourable recommendations—including a 7,900sqft semi-detached home in Telok Kurau.
From cosy sanctuaries to sprawling mansions, Sujonohun’s portfolio may be vast and varied, but what remains constant is the firm’s unerring commitment to quality. “Our style may be diverse, but we always aim for well-executed design,” says Hun.
