The arrival of a newborn child is a life-changing event. Kai Suites, a new postpartum facility, seeks to celebrate this milestone with a luxurious environment designed to pamper mothers and their babies.

Housed in an elegantly conserved building on Dunearn Road designed by K2LD Architects, the facility features 18 elegant suites with Japanese-inspired interiors in earthy hues to create a relaxing ambience. “The client wanted a setting akin to a luxurious boutique hotel that conveys the intimate character of the ryokans (traditional inns) found in Japan,” says Leong Lai Ping, an associate at K2LD Architects.

An entrance featuring a zen garden f lanked by bamboo harks to its Japanese inf luences; within the compound, curvilinear forms and natural materials contribute to the calming feel. Additionally, the centre serves holistic meals that combine dietary science with inf luences from Traditional Chinese Medicine practices; spa amenities are also available and the facility will soon open an aesthetics clinic.
