Prestige Global Designs creates a travel-themed haven with unexpected details in every corner

Lino and Kavita stand at the ready, greeting all who step into the foyer. With luggage in hand, the duo—actually a pair of sculptures by artist Bruno Catalano— evoke a sense of curiosity and adventure.

This whimsical mood is exactly what the homeowners aim to convey in their 2,347sqft abode in the Principal Garden condominium, where they live with their young daughter.

“The well-travelled owners wanted their home to look different and interesting, with surprises to be discovered in every corner,” says Jeremy Tay, co-founder and director of Prestige Global Designs. “For this project, we injected colours, textures and patterns to create a unique and luxurious interior. We wanted to create a sense of awe in every part of the house by adding interesting elements to the spaces; this makes it feel like one is exploring the world within the home, especially as the clients love to travel.”

REALM OF WHIMSY

A pair of French doors was specially chosen to allow natural light to illuminate the entrance foyer. Elegant furnishings from Hermès, including a leather sofa, armchairs and marble coffee tables, evoke a sense of understated luxury in the living area. The designers also installed a spray-painted wall feature as a complementary backdrop to the

Bang & Olufsen TV and speakers.

In contrast to the neutral tones of the living room, the dining area is set against a Gucci wallcovering depicting herons and dragonf lies on a striking pink background. A round marble dining table and chairs in teal leather with coral piping from Gubi anchor the space while a Baccarat crystal vase and drinking glasses pair perfectly with the A Walk in the

Garden tableware from Hermès.

“Together with the specially designed carpet, which replicates the effect of water rippling in a pond, the setting allows guests to enjoy the unique experience of dining in a garden-like setting,” says Tay. With a similar intention to delight, the adjoining powder room features tiles in royal blue and decorative koi fish wallpaper to “conjure the experience of being underwater”. The curved cabinetry doors and mirror in this space echo the arched ceiling of the corridor, while the black-and-white marble f loor tiles reference the colour scheme of the hallway. A sculptural basin is another intriguing touch.

An open kitchen concept furnished with V-zug appliances also allows the owners to revel in the generous expanse of their living area. Here, teal kitchen cabinets are paired with Gubi bar stools upholstered in a lively coral fabric, while an island counter with a backlit onyx panel creates a dramatic centrepiece.
