Summerhaus D’zign kept the role of the contemporary kitchen top of mind when tasked to craft a culinary zone incorporating the new Excellence Line of products from luxury Swiss appliance brand V-zug. The local studio developed a stunning space that exudes luxury with its dark palette, and integrates the Swiss manufacturer’s streamlined fittings and appliances seamlessly.
“The kitchen has become a space where the family spends time relaxing and bonding, learning traditional recipes from grandmothers, and exploring baking ideas with the kids,” says Larry Lim, managing partner of Summerhaus D’zign. “A dream kitchen must be fitted with capable equipment and appliances that are versatile enough to support a wide range of cooking styles.”
KEY INGREDIENTS
Founded in 1913, V-zug has made its name offering such equipment— “simple, individual solutions that provide lifelong inspiration and delight”, in keeping with its brand ethos of “Swiss perfection for your home”. The company’s
Excellence Line, for example, comprises a range of sleek ovens and steam cookers that incorporates various innovative design touches and features aimed at making everyday life easier.
Ergonomically designed handles, milled from a single piece of metal, incorporate a rounded inner surface and front dip for easy operation, while showcasing high-quality workmanship. Handle-less appliances feature an Autodoor function, which fully open and close appliances automatically at the touch of a button.
Marking an evolution of V-zug’s renowned rotary-push-button system is the new Circleslider. This adjusting knob responds precisely to the placement of your finger to
set exact values such as the cooking temperature and duration. Making food preparation a breeze is the Easycook function, which stores default settings for over a hundred dishes, so you can confidently whip up gourmet classics even without a recipe.

This sumptuous dry kitchen conceptualised by Summerhaus D’zign complements V-zug’s Excellence Line appliances perfectly. Designed for a multigenerational family, the firm decided on a dusky colour scheme punctuated by lush elements and polished accents. “It is an environment that is fun but at the same time subtly exudes a sense of luxury,” says Lim.

Bianco mosaic tiles clad the island counter, lending an artistic touch. A feature wall sporting a large Sage
Jasper stone slab from Antolini immediately catches the eye.
Ample space was catered between the cabinets and curved island counter to facilitate comfortable movement. Rounded edges break the monotony of an angular look and ensure safety for the elderly and young children by preventing accidental knocks on sharp angles.
As a designer, Lim appreciates the aesthetic possibilities afforded by V-zug appliances. “The variety of colours matches many interior schemes, and the seamless designs make any kitchen look modern, sleek and sharp,” he says.
