With its elegant furnishings and an expansive panorama incorporating Marina Bay Sands and the surrounding downtown area, this luxury apartment immediately makes an impression. The clients, a couple, wished to transform the 1,626sqft unit into a cosy and stylish home.

“The clients wanted to beautify their living environment through interior styling and also incorporate more storage solutions while avoiding major renovation work,” says Shermaine Ong, principal designer of Mosh Interior, who worked on the project with senior designer Liao Chien-i.

ROOM FOR TWO

To capitalise on the unit’s milliondollar view, Ong designed a custom counter at the balcony; it’s paired with sleek black bar stools. This spot offers a fantastic view of the surroundings and is the couple’s favourite place to host guests, especially when there are fireworks on special occasions such as National Day and New Year’s Eve.

In the living room, a cobalt blue sofa set adds a pop of colour while a pendant light with brass arms brings a gentle glow to the space. A marble-topped coffee table and a rug from The Orientalist

Carpets complete the stylish tableau in the living area.

Next to the TV is a built-in bench. This design element was specially created for the husband so he could have a pleasant nook to sit in while putting on his dress shoes before heading to work. Ong also designed backlit shelves for the couple to keep their favourite bottles of spirits within reach of the dining table. A mirror helps to visually enlarge the space, while storage solutions are smartly employed in the form of drawers located under the counter.

STYLE AND SUBSTANCE

In the master bedroom, a brown rug complements the taupe walls and luxe leather bedframe, while offering a sense of continuity with the living room’s decor. A TV console also allows for additional storage while maintaining the stylish feel of the space.

To showcase the wife’s enviable collection of designer leather handbags and high heels, open shelves were installed along the length of a wall in the dressing room. An elegant vanity area featuring a wall-hung mirror completes the space; it’s where she can indulge in her daily beauty routine while taking in the view.

As this home proves, even with minimal construction work, an interior can be both beautiful and functional, under the keen eye of an experienced design team.
