Italian surfaces purveyor Florim is building on its legacy with sustainable claddings that mark the next step in green design
Few companies are as renowned for their ceramic surfaces as
Italian manufacturer Florim.
Since its founding in 1962, it has built a strong name by focusing on its corporate tenets of quality, sustainability and innovation, underpinned by a passion for beauty and design. Florim’s ecoconscious approach comprises real actions; the firm continually makes improvements to its products and processes to reduce its environmental and energy impact. The company was also the first porcelain and stoneware manufacturer in the world to become B Corp certified in 2020 for producing well-designed ceramics with the commitment to work towards a greener future.
Florim’s porcelain surfaces are the result of up to 100 per cent sustainable production processes and are available in many sizes. Its surfaces can be applied to flooring, wall coverings and furnishings, and can range up to over 320cm by 160cm in 6mm thickness for the Magnum Oversize large format porcelain slabs. The company is also well positioned internationally with showrooms in the world’s top design districts, including Brera in Milan. It tells its brand story through four keywords— luxury, creativity, architecture and contemporary—thus showcasing different but complementary design styles through Florim.
Suitable for different uses as ventilated facades, the weatherresistant porcelain slabs were recently chosen to clad the facade of the energy-efficient
Nest Sukhumvit 71, a condominium project in Bangkok. The cavity between the dedicated structure and the slabs enables constant ventilation, increasing the building’s breathability and reducing thermal dissipation.
