GENERATION T LIST 2018 LAUNCH

It was one of the hottest days in May when an enthusiast­ic crowd gathered at private members’ club, 1880, for the unveiling of the Generation T List 2018. The event unveiled the new crop of 50 individual­s who were joining the burgeoning regional Gen.t community, which is currently made up of 450 entreprene­urs, creatives and profession­als from eight Asia Tatler regions including Singapore, Hong Kong and the Philippine­s. Animated conversati­ons and boisterous laughter filled the air as guests enjoyed glasses of champagne on the club’s outdoor terrace at sunset, before taking their seats at an intimate closed-door dinner in honour of the newly minted Gen.t 2018 listers. More bubbly, wines and Rémy Martin XO cognac flowed throughout the four courses. Seated among the Gen.t listers were several members of the Tatler Tribe, a group of industry insiders who were responsibl­e for the nomination and selection of the individual­s featured in this year’s list. They include Epigram Book’s Edmund Wee and Foreign Policy Design Group’s Yu Yah-leng, as well as Gen.t listers from previous editions such as industrial designer Hunn Wai and social entreprene­ur Rebekah Lin. There were also two other special guests, The Wire Group chairman Iqbal Jumabhoy and One Championsh­ip CFO Teh Hua Fung, both seasoned businessme­n, who were invited to share their business insights at a panel discussion. Moderated by 1880 founder Marc Nicholson, the lively exchange was centred around the topic, “Are collaborat­ions and partnershi­ps essential for the survival of a business today?”, and also saw Gen.t 2018 listers Annabelle Kwok,
