JACKIE YING

Jackie Ying helms A*star’s new Nanobio Lab and was inducted as a Fellow of the prestigiou­s US National Academy of Inventors, the highest accolade for academic inventors. As the founding executive director of the Institute of Bioenginee­ring and Nanotechno­logy from 2003 to 2018, she helped to raise the internatio­nal profile of Singapore’s biomedical research scene.

BERNARD ESSELINCKX

Bernard Esselinckx is the president and CEO of Senoko Energy, the largest power generation company in Singapore. Under his leadership, the company launched retail services for households and SMES with the full liberalisa­tion of Singapore’s power market. Senoko has also branched into solar energy projects in partnershi­p with Continenta­l Automotive Singapore.

LIM OON KUIN

Lim Oon Kuin is the founder and chairman of Hin Leong Trading, one of Singapore’s largest oil traders. From a humble beginning supplying diesel to fishing vessels in 1963, he has built a global presence for the company, with a reported wealth of US$1.8B. He also founded subsidiary company, Ocean Tankers, which is run by his son, Evan Lim.

FRANK PHUAN

Frank Phuan is the co-founder, CEO and executive director of Sunseap Group, which has a market capitalisa­tion of $300m and presence in Malaysia, China, India and Cambodia. A collaborat­ion with Shell Technology Ventures will spur the group’s regional growth through solar projects. Phuan has also led the company to work with Microsoft, Starhub and PSA Singapore.

BRIAN CHANG

Brian Chang is the chairman and CEO of Calm Oceans, which develops proprietar­y offshore technologi­es based on its patent and patent-pending designs. He also founded Yantai Raffles Offshore, which has since been renamed Yantai CIMC Raffles Shipyard after China Internatio­nal Marine Containers (CIMC) invested in it.

GAN SEOW KEE

Gan Seow Kee is the chairman and managing director of Exxonmobil Asia-pacific, which celebrates its 125th anniversar­y in Singapore in 2018. An expansion project to increase the base oil production capacity of its Singapore refinery is underway and is expected to be completed in 2019. Gan also sits on the board of the Economic Developmen­t Board.

LOH CHIN HUA

Loh Chin Hua is the executive chairman of Keppel Land, CEO of Keppel Corporatio­n and chairman of several other companies within the Keppel Group. A chartered financial analyst, he serves on the board of the Economic Developmen­t Board, and the National University of Singapore’s board of trustees.

DAVID RUSSELL

David Russell founded and chairs Equis, Asia’s largest independen­t infrastruc­ture and real asset investment manager. In 2017, he saw the US$5B sale of his company’s subsidiary, Equis Energy. He is also leading Equis to develop a multimilli­ondollar solar project in Australia. As the chairman of Equis Foundation, he hopes to build the first vulnerable mother crisis centre in Uzbekistan.

CHANG YUN CHUNG

Chang Yun Chung is the founding chairman of Pacific Internatio­nal Lines, the biggest Singaporeo­wned shipping line. After more than 50 years at the helm, he has handed over the baton of the family-owned business to his son, Teo Siong Seng. The world’s oldest billionair­e is now chairman emeritus of the company.

GOH SWEE CHEN

Goh Swee Chen chairs the Shell Companies in Singapore, and is its City Solutions – New Energies vice president. The president of the Global Compact Network Singapore also sits on the board of trustees of the Singapore University of Technology and Design, and on the Diversity Action Committee Singapore.

NEIL MCGREGOR

Neil Mcgregor is the group president and CEO of Sembcorp Industries. Prior to that, he was the head of energy and resources at Temasek Internatio­nal. He also helmed the Enterprise Developmen­t Group as senior managing director. He is currently a director on the boards of several organisati­ons, including the Certis Group.

TAN BOY TEE

Tan Boy Tee is the co-founder of Labroy Marine, a tug and barge operator whose sale in 2008 yielded the marine tycoon over US$700M. He has handed over the reins of Bestford Capital to his sons, Thomas and Terry. The group has interests in hospitalit­y, mining and power generation.
