YOU LIGHT UP MY LIFE
The latest variant of the A Lange & Söhne Datograph Up/down is the fourth model of the Lumen series. Here are its three older siblings
ZEITWERK LUMINOUS (2010) This is the original Lumen watch. When it was launched, the term Lumen wasn’t even coined yet as the spotlight was on the Zeitwerk, which showed off the mechanics underneath in an innovative manner. The time discs recharge in the day and the Superluminova-coated numerals shine at night. GRAND LANGE 1 LUMEN (2013) This is the first official Lumen watch. Many people were surprised by how A Lange & Söhne melded classic watchmaking with modern—futuristic, almost—aesthetics. GRAND LANGE 1 MOON PHASE LUMEN (2016) The third member of the Lumen family is also the brand’s third open dial watch. A Lange & Söhne doesn’t create skeletonised watches, so the Lumen pieces are the closest it has to that. This time, it added a moonphase indicator made of glass, lasercut with 1,164 stars and the moon.
