ith a new year ahead of us, it’s always good to take stock of the 365 days that have just passed. The year 2018 saw many firsts for Singapore Tatler— we rolled out new initiatives such as the Tatler Fashion Insiders Dinner and the inaugural Jewels & Time Week, both of which were extremely well-received. It was also undoubtedly a busy year, as we hosted a record-breaking 69 events over 12 months. We definitely pushed the envelope, and we plan to do more of such events in 2019. For a start, we have just introduced a sleeker, fresher look to our website, Singaporetatler.com. Apart from a cleaner design, we included features that would make it a breeze for you to navigate through: the site now has a “Guides” section, where we highlight our edit of the best restaurants, bars, spas and more, as well as an improved mobile interface to match everyone’s nomadic lifestyles. January is traditionally Singapore’s art month and it will be a busy few weeks for patrons and collectors. Artists will be showcasing their works in museums, galleries and spaces as part of the Singapore Art Week from January 19 to 27. Sub-editor Hashirin Nurin Hashimi learns about the new developments of Art Stage Singapore on p.40, while contributing features editor Hong Xinyi finds out more about S.E.A. Focus on p.100. Making its debut this month, the latter is a new platform that aims to be a conduit between galleries and Southeast Asian visual artists, and also between the art scene and audiences. For us at Singapore Tatler, fashion is also an art form that we get to appreciate on a daily basis. It takes personality and panache to use fashion as a means of self-expression and the eight gorgeous ladies named Asia’s Most Stylish do it with aplomb. Apart from mastering the art of dressing, we also consider them modern-day Medicis, being fervent patrons of fashion, and in particular, couture. Fashion director Desmond Lim jetted to Macau with Singapore’s very own fashion savant Georgia Lee, who was photographed at the Zaha Hadid-designed Morpheus hotel. See the glamorous results on p.106. Taking inspiration from how our Asia’s Most Stylish individuals, who consistently look elegant, our mandate at Singapore Tatler is to continue to share the most exquisite and extraordinary things and experiences with you in 2019.
