Abundance is key for all Lunar New Year meals—it is the gastronomic heralding, if you will, of a prosperous year ahead. It may be symbolised in single dishes such as the classic yusheng or pencai, or embodied in a spectacular multi-course meal. Either way, these are served with aplomb at Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel’s Wan Hao Chinese Restaurant and Marriott Cafe. The yusheng and pencai at Wan Hao Chinese Restaurant are in a class of their own. The renowned Cantonese establishment offers six types of yusheng, including a superbly decadent version topped with lobster, sea urchin, Hokkaido scallop, salmon, tuna and caviar. The pencai, too, is not to be missed—a casserole hot pot bubbling with premium ingredients including Australian three-head abalone, braised Irish duck and whole pig trotter. Besides these two Lunar New Year favourites, other dishes to try at Wan Hao Chinese Restaurant include the tasty braised bird’s nest with assorted seafood broth and saffron; deep-fried lobster with passionfruit mayonnaise and cereal; and golden nian gao tarts. These dishes are available a la carte, as takeaways, or as part of a bespoke set menu from January 14 to February 19. The heartiest of appetites will also be satiated at the Marriott Cafe, where specially prepared buffet spreads await. Again, abundance is at the heart of this Lunar New Year service. The mouth-watering buffet will take you from the East to the West as you bask in the festivities. From the aromatic braised pig trotters with black mushroom to the succulent lobster thermidor, this indulgent and lavish spread is perfect for ringing in the Year of the Pig. The Lunar New Year is also time for showing love to family and friends. Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel’s Forecourt Stall has prepared delicious treats to delight them. The famed Eight Treasures Cake is a firm favourite, alongside its signature pineapple tarts and bak kwa cornflakes cookies. There are even hampers available to gift business partners and associates. With everything thoughtfully planned out, Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel ensures that festive feasts are more than just sumptuous gastronomic treats. They are also symbolic ways of kick-starting the year with prosperity and good luck.
