-

Resorts World Sentosa’s The Wine Pinnacle Awards Presented By Genting Singapore is set to take place at the convention centre from October 10 to 12. It’s a first of its kind event wherein wine professionals from around the globe will nominate and vote for their preferred pours through a secure online balloting system. The winners will be revealed in a lavish ceremony and gala dinner on the first night. Running concurrently is a three-day festival featuring the awardwinning wines through workshops and wine pairing dinners at the resort’s celebrity chef restaurants.

Whether you are a wine professional or an avid consumer, it’s easy to appreciate the astounding diversity the world’s best wines represent. But finding them in one place is a rare opportunity, which makes The Wine Pinnacle Awards Presented By Genting Singapore, Resorts World Sentosa’s first-ever grand wine event, an occasion you cannot miss. The three-day event will run from October 10 to 12 at the Resorts World Convention Centre, with a gala dinner and awards ceremony to recognise the best wines from around the world, as nominated and voted by some of the most revered and trusted palates across the globe, taking place on the first night. It will be held concurrently with a wine festival, which will stretch across all three days. Voting is done electronically through a secure online balloting system and there are no entry fees required. Critics are more than welcome to submit their favoured sips

regardless of wine origin, the style of wine or grape variety. While the award categories will be revealed closer to the date, rest assured the coveted selection of winning wines will be appraised by a well-respected wine committee that Resorts World Sentosa has carefully assembled. This panel of five of the world’s most respected experts have been tasked with liaising with the professional jury in nominating their best wines. They will monitor and review the nomination results and eventually, finalise the award categories. This is certainly a first-of-its-kind event, which committee member Doug Frost, who holds the prestigious titles of Master of Wine and Master Sommelier, explains is uniquely inclusive. “The Wine Pinnacle Awards Presented By Genting Singapore are the first awards which take into account the diverse global landscape of wine, and by drawing nominations from an unprecedented breadth of influencers worldwide, we believe that we will best represent the remarkable flowering of wines around the planet,” he adds. Fellow member Kenichi Ohashi, a Master of Wine and sake expert, also notes how wonderful it is “that all wines including those highly-regarded bottles will have the chance to be voted by hundreds of leading wine professionals from around the world.” He is convinced that the results will bring new excitement to the global wine scene, and even contribute “to a more dynamic wine industry”. Completing the esteemed panel are: Swedish sommelier Andreas Larsson, 2007 Best Sommelier in the World; Robert Owen “Oz” Clarke, a British wine and spirits enthusiast as well as BBC’S Oz and James Drink to Britain host; and Jeannie Cho Lee, the first Asian Master of Wine, who counts being a successful author, TV host, editor and educator, among her varied responsibilities. “The Wine Pinnacle Awards Presented By Genting Singapore is unique in that awards are being given to wines that are mature and drinking beautifully, not only young, recentlyreleased wines,” Lee adds. “It also removes the limitation of awarding wines that are among a paid pool of submissions. Instead, The Wine Pinnacle Awards Presented By Genting Singapore focuses on pure quality and merit, encompassing the world of wines without commercial limitations.” Complementing the celebration is the said wine festival—arguably the most extensive in Southeast Asia to date. Undoubtedly, the highlight of the festival is the showcase of nominated wines, but visitors are also encouraged to sign up for seminars and workshops by some of the biggest names in the drinks world. Of course, one of the best ways to enjoy these amazing wines is to indulge in a few wine pairing dinners, to be held at several of the integrated resort’s celebrity chef restaurants.
