Swiss luxury beauty brand La Prairie has developed a new scientific equation to bring increased luminosity to the eye area

-

La Prairie’s pursuit of beauty has always been rooted in science and art. The late Swiss doctor Paul Niehans was convinced that cellular science held the key to ensuring eternal beauty and vitality, and that led to the birth of Clinique La Prairie in 1931. The famous wellness centre in Montreux, Switzerland is also where he developed his breakthrough research in cellular therapy, which became the basis of La Prairie’s exclusive cellular complex, found in its core collections— Platinum Rare, Radiance,

Skin Caviar and White Caviar.

The Swiss beauty brand’s latest innovation is the White Caviar Eye Extraordinaire, which is inspired by architect Le Corbusier’s quote: “Architecture is the wise, precise and magnificent balance of forms assembled in the light”. It also follows La Prairie’s Science of Light, a concept introduced last year that expresses skin luminosity as a function of colour and reflection. Revisiting the philosophy this year, La Prairie adds an additional element of shape to the equation to address the three-dimensional landscape of the eye area.

“Shape and its influence on how light interacts with the planes of the face—in particular, the graceful curve of the brow, the contour of the lid, the mystery of the lash line—is the defining element of the eye’s architecture,” said Daniel Stangl (pictured left), La Prairie’s director of innovation. “White Caviar Eye Extraordinaire addresses these three aspects. Also, it contains Lumidose, which is used for the first time in an eye product.” Lumidose is a La Prairie-patented brightening ingredient that targets colour disturbances to achieve a translucent complexion.

He also shared that the White Caviar Eye Extraordinaire took two years to develop, following 15 years of research that led to the creation of Lumidose. “One of the main challenges was to balance

the formulation by getting the best possible performance and, at the same time, an outstanding sensorial experience.” The eye cream is further enriched with La Prarie’s exclusive cellular complex and golden caviar extract, enhancing the reflection and shape of the eye contour and increasing collagen production to smoothen lines, redensify and firm lax skin.

To preserve the properties of the active ingredients in the formula, the White Caviar Eye Extraordinaire is contained within a sealed cylindrical jar with an innovative airless pump that dispenses the perfect dose at the push of an inverted button. It also comes with a ceramic pearl to help stimulate microcirculation and lymphatic drainage in the eye area. The vessel makes for a beautiful addition to the vanity table, too. The jar is accentuated by a sculpted ring—a nod to its namesake caviar beads— and opens to reveal a mirror.
