NEO NOIR
In 1994, IWC Schaffhausen launched the Fliegerchronograph Keramik (ref 3705), which is the first Pilot’s Watch with a case made of black zirconium oxide ceramic. It has since gained cult status and is widely sought after by watch buffs. This year, the watchmaker pays tribute to the icon with the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph Edition “Tribute to 3705”. The dial design of the new version is a faithful replication of the original’s but instead of ceramic, this new creation features a case made of Ceratanium, a proprietary material developed by IWC. Like titanium, Ceratanium is light and robust, but also boasts hardness and scratch-resistance similar to ceramic. The Pilot’s Watch Chronograph Edition “Tribute to 3705” features the in-house 69380 calibre, which has a power reserve of 46 hours.
