Allies of Skin

Singaporea­n Nicolas Travis turned his teenage struggle with acne into a skincare empire, and a way to empower others to take control of their skin—hence the name of his brand, Allies of Skin.

“The name Allies of Skin came to me when I was brushing my teeth one day,” says Travis. “I’ve always loved the word ‘allies’; one cannot thrive in life without having allies and people who have your back. I wanted to create products that people could trust. The fact that people trust us with their skin is

something I take very seriously and am grateful for every day.”

Travis started the line with three products because “that’s what I could afford”, and now, it’s the most widely distribute­d Singaporea­n beauty brand, sold in 28 countries at retailers like Harrods and Selfridges.

As well as being friends to those looking to improve their skin, the brand is a pal to the animal world by operating as strictly cruelty-free. “There’s no reason not to do so,” says Travis. “The practice of testing on animals is archaic and unnecessar­y.”
