Allies of Skin
Singaporean Nicolas Travis turned his teenage struggle with acne into a skincare empire, and a way to empower others to take control of their skin—hence the name of his brand, Allies of Skin.
“The name Allies of Skin came to me when I was brushing my teeth one day,” says Travis. “I’ve always loved the word ‘allies’; one cannot thrive in life without having allies and people who have your back. I wanted to create products that people could trust. The fact that people trust us with their skin is
something I take very seriously and am grateful for every day.”
Travis started the line with three products because “that’s what I could afford”, and now, it’s the most widely distributed Singaporean beauty brand, sold in 28 countries at retailers like Harrods and Selfridges.
As well as being friends to those looking to improve their skin, the brand is a pal to the animal world by operating as strictly cruelty-free. “There’s no reason not to do so,” says Travis. “The practice of testing on animals is archaic and unnecessary.”
