L is for Labrador Nature Reserve
Situated on the edge of a secondary coastal forest, the Labrador Nature Reserve, one of the four nature reserves in Singapore, is significant to illustrator Radhiah Anis when it comes to the conversations on urban development and environmental and wildlife conservation. She highlights the park’s iconic red Berlayer Beacon, which served as a navigational beacon for boats and ships entering Keppel Harbour in the mid‑20th century. “I want to portray a simple and direct contrast between the structure of the beacon and the simple forms of nature in the background. This is the essence of the place for me.”
