SPACE TRAVEL ISN’T JUST FOR ASTRONAUTS

-

People all over the world had their eyes peeled on television screens when the first space flight took off on July 21, 1969, and brought American astronauts Neil Armstrong and Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin to the moon.

It has taken five decades since but space travel is now a viable reality for ordinary folks. The private space race is heating up. And if there’s one thing we have learnt in the past year, it is that companies such as Virgin Galactic, Blue Origin and Spacex have displaced governments as the key players.

Today, the companies are striving to one-up each other when it comes to offering unforgettable experiences. Jeff Bezos’s Blue Origin supposedly offers higher altitude travel—ten miles more than Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic—while Elon Musk’s Spacex looks to provide up to five days of orbital travel onboard a free-flying spacecraft.
