THE FUTURE IS NOW
As one of the first fashion houses to set foot in the virtual realm, presenting a digital fashion show in video game format, Balenciaga is leading the way to the metaverse. For its spring 2022 collection, in which the brand “hacked” Gucci, Japanese contemporary artist Hiroto Ikeuchi created cybernetic face coverings, inspired by the mecha of classic anime. A futuristic exoskeleton suit made in collaboration with robotics manufacturer Skeletonics adds more cyberpunk flair to the innovative campaign, shot by Italian photographer Andrea Artemisio.
