Mercedes-Benz CLE200 Coupe is launched; CLE-Class Cabriolet to follow
The new C236 Mercedes-Benz CLE Coupe replaces both the C- and E-Class Coupe. Prices start from $341,888 for the CLE200 Coupe Avantgarde
Mercedes-Benz is on a roll in Singapore. It is introducing yet another gorgeous masterpiece for its fans to aspire to — the CLE Coupe, specifically the CLE 200 in a choice of Avantgarde ($341,888) or AMG Line ($367,888) trim (with the CLE 200 Cabriolet, CLE 53 Coupe and CLE 53 Cabriolet still inbound at time of writing).
In keeping with the brand’s attempt to streamline its product offerings, the CLE is meant to fill the shoes of both the E-Class Coupe and C-Class Coupe (and the Cabriolet counterparts) by inheriting the best features from both the C-Class and E-Class models.
The turbocharged M254 2.0-litre at the heart of the CLE 200 produces 204hp and 320Nm and is mated to a 9-speed 9G-Tronic automatic transmission. It will scamper from nought to 100km/h in 7.9 secs on its way to its 240km/h top speed, so there’s reasonable “go” to accompany the “show”.
The striking CLE Coupe is beautifully sculpted with subtle musculature and powerful rear haunches, with the stylish proceedings topped off at its shark-nosed front with a newly-designed three-dimensional radiator grille. The CLE Coupe also boasts the long bonnet common to many coupes, which features prominent power domes as a reference to powerful engines.
The CLE Coupe’s cabin adopts the digital innovations from the new E-Class (including the new electronic architecture and third-generation MBUX infotainment system) and should prove a comforting safe space to those familiar with modern MercedesBenz models.
