FAVOURITE NOVELTY: Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar in ceramic, $131,600
Despite getting serious about Audemars Piguet only a few years ago in 2014, Christopher Yeo already owns several pieces from the brand, including signature pieces like the Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar in pink gold. The 41mm perpetual calendar model again caught his eye in 2017, with its new elegant yet sporty ceramic case.
“What mainly attracted me is the fact that almost the whole case and bracelet is made of ceramic – some parts are in titanium – with the outstanding finishing typical of Audemars Piguet. Ceramic is extremely difficult to work, and this brushed case and bracelet take more than five times longer to produce than steel or gold. Its gleaming black finish brings to mind a black diamond.”
DAY OR NIGHT
“It feels wickedly light and very comfortable on the wrist. It has presence but it’s subtle too; and its 41mm diameter and thinness (of 9.5mm) make it a highly elegant sports watch. This watch is pretty versatile, and I would wear it with either business or casual wear. I feel it goes especially well with casual wear at night, because it’s brilliant yet understated.”
