ONE FOR ALL

The Peak Selections: Timepieces - - Hit Series - Dr Kelvin Koh

Dr Kelvin Koh will always remember the day in November 2016 he bought the three Franck Muller watches shown here – because it is also the day his second child was born. The GP and general manager of a medical group elaborates on this trio of tonneau timepieces: “The one with diamonds is for my lovely wife, the biggest one is for myself, and the second-biggest one is for my son as an heirloom piece. My wife and I plan to pass him his timepiece on his 18th birthday; and my wife’s and mine, on his wedding day.”

Their first child will also receive a similar horological legacy when she comes of age: Their choice for her, more than two years ago, was the Cartier Ballon Bleu. This is the evolution of a family tradition Dr Koh hopes will continue. His parents gifted him a Breitling Chrono Cockpit and an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak automatic on his 18th birthday and wedding day, respectively. Now in his 30s, Dr Koh still wears both watches. He says: “The watch I received on my 18th birthday serves as a reminder of the hardships my parents endured through my journey into adulthood. I hope that when my children receive these watches in future, they see them not just as items of monetary value, but as items bearing memories of their parents.”
