TO HAVE IT ALL

ThePeak and Tom Ford present how to look hot while staying cool in the latest fabrics designed for custom tailoring.

-

From decadently luxurious suits to the range of skin-coloured men’s skivvies the American designer debuted at his latest ready-to-wear show in New York, Tom Ford’s apparel has long been synonymous with sex appeal. But it’s hard to feel sexy when one is sweating buckets while all dressed up – which is why we’re feeling the Spring/Summer 2018 fabrics that are available in Tom Ford’s made-to-measure (MTM) arsenal.

Look hot and feel cool in fabrics that can be tailored to individual specifications. Allowing for breezy peacocking, for example, are cotton-linen velvets that can be used for jackets and other tailored pieces. They combine rich, look-at-me colours (fuchsia, pale pink) and a lush velvety texture, with the lightness and breathability of cotton and linen. It’s not just these summery styles that are comfortably lightweight. An ultra-light 15-micron wool (this means each fibre is finer than a strand of human hair) comes in classic patterns like a subtle grey check – a blend of sartorial tradition and a lightness appropriate for our climate.

Next month will bring the perfect opportunity to check out these fabrics, along with other lush yet lightweight options for customisable tailored pieces ranging from jackets to tuxedos, as well as shirts. From May 10 to 13, a Tom Ford MTM specialist from Milan will be available for personal appointments at the brand’s Marina Bay Sands boutique, an exclusive event that occurs here just thrice a year. Each order is made in Italy and takes up to eight weeks – because looking effortlessly put together takes time.
