YOUR AIRNESS
Two leading menswear figures come together to create a collection that’s not just for the guys.
An exclusive behind-thescenes look at the making of the coveted Air Jordan 1 High OG Dior sneaker.
“It is not about streetwear or tailoring,” says Alessandro
Sartori, artistic director of Ermenegildo Zegna, in a recent Instagram post about his brand’s upcoming collaboration with
Los Angeles-based niche fashion brand Fear of God. He continues: “It is about a new vision. Jerry (Lorenzo, founder of Fear of God) and I started from a white page to imagine a modern man.”
Apparently, a modern woman as well, seeing as how female models appear alongside guys in their collection. As Lorenzo says in the press notes for the collection, “I design menswear, but I always keep a woman in mind. I really love the way women wear men’s clothing.” While they will only arrive in stores in September, the looks in the collaborative collection have already been unveiled. The range features relaxed tailoring and slightly oversized, stylish silhouettes.
Fusing both designers’ sensibilities, it includes coats that look good, whether worn oversized or just right, tailored jackets without lapels and collars for a cleaner, more casual effect, and casual outerwear such as a lightweight suede shirt-jacket. Accessories include western ankle boots and long woven belts tied at the front.
Despite the sprinkling of flamboyant flourishes, the range never looks anything less than tasteful and luxe – thanks in part to a muted palette that includes grey, vicuna and taupe.
