The Language of Food

- Farhan Shah

They say you can understand someone’s culture through food. Thanks to globalisation and an incredible logistics network, you can even experience a melting pot of diversity in your own home, just like our cover personality Rajeev Kannan. Born in India, he came to Singapore over 20 years ago to work in a global Japanese bank and has risen through the ranks to take charge of the Asia-Pacific region. Rajeev is also an avid cook. His signature dish? Chicken tagine. It’s a Moroccan stew and delicious.

Food security and sustainability are also pertinent concerns in Singapore. Fortunately, a rising number of visionaries have taken it upon themselves to come up with solutions. We profile three in this issue. We also zero in on the growing profile of Chinese winemakers creating compelling vino in harsh environments. A melting pot indeed.

Enjoy the issue, preferably with a glass of wine.
