International travel might be at a standstill, but buyers are still snapping up holiday homes in the Swiss Alps.

-

Vast, snow-capped mountains, slopes that beckon to be shred and some apres-ski fun – there’s nothing like an alpine holiday to unwind. The only downside? All that packing and planning. Of course, you would never have to think of that ever again if you owned a holiday home.

This is probably why 95 per cent of Andermatt Swiss Alps’ latest development – a series of Japanese-inspired mezzanine apartments christened Koya – were snapped up in reservations just two weeks into the launch of its waiting list. Making up an outsized 8 per cent of all buyers, Singaporeans, it seems, love the Alps.

Maureen Yeo, regional director, Asia, at Andermatt Swiss Alps says, “We sold more properties in 2020 than we did the year before. The market volatility and low interest rates have prompted more people to invest in brick and mortar. Also, many have realised they no longer need to work in the big cities. They can also work from home in the Alps.” No more Monday blues with this view.
