WONDERS OF THE WORLD

Comprising distinctive pieces sold as a set, the Eight Marvels of the World collection by independent brand Louis

Moinet highlights famous monuments. Depicted through techniques that include hand-engraving and enamelling, the set features these well-known attractions: The Blue Mosque (pictured) in Istanbul, the Colosseum (Rome), Christ the Redeemer (Brazil), the Taj Mahal (India), the Great Wall of China, Machu Picchu (Peru), Petra (Jordan) and the Pyramid of Khufu (Egypt).

THE GREAT EXPLORERS

Following two Tribute to Great Explorers series in 2004 and 2008, Vacheron Constantin has introduced the third series in the collection. Three 10-piece limited edition watches pay homage to a trio of famed Portuguese navigators of yore – Bartolomeu Dias (pictured), Vasco de Gama and Pedro Alvares Cabral. Created with grand feu enamel, each dial features portions of a map – depicting the journeys of said explorers – from the Miller Atlas, a Portuguese atlas from 1519.

AT THE PEAK

Presented as part of Patek Philippe’s latest Rare Handcrafts collection, the Lac Blanc (white lake in French) pocket watch features grand feu cloisonne enamel over guilloche work and hand-engraving. The dial depicts the Mont Blanc massif as seen from Lac Blanc in Chamonix, France. The enameller created the outlines in the image using 51cm of 24K yellow gold wire, cut to form 80 segments filled with enamel in 29 different colours and repeatedly fired.
