THE CAT’S MEOW

Everything can be paired with wine, even cats.

-

There are many ways to destress but we might have found the best one yet: vino and feline fun at Meow Meow Wine Time (@meow.meow.wine.time). Its periodic Cat & Wine pop-ups at Playground, a Ragdoll and Singapura cattery in Joo Chiat Road, promise solid playtime with these gorgeous creatures.

Gentle, calm & sociable

Think all cats are solitary, aloof creatures? Then you need to meet a Ragdoll. Members of this semi-long coated breed, originally from California, are often compared to dogs, thanks to their relaxed nature and affectionate temperament that suit their name well as they usually flop right into the arms of their owners and anyone else they like.

Singapuras, on the other hand, are so named for their origin that came from three stray cats found in Singapore. This smallest breed of cat has a big personality. It is always curious, thrives on attention and loves to play as much as it does lolling in a warm lap.

A likely pair

We can pair wine with just about anything these days – and now feline company as well. We like a zippy, almost-juice blend of cabernet sauvignon and sauvignon blanc (an unconventional mix) from the Yarra Valley for playtime and perhaps something more contemplative, like an elegant Burgundy, for quiet evenings with the cats.
