A BRIEF HISTORY OF MOTOR CARS

-

Electric cars are not new inventions. At the beginning of the automotive era, the roads were filled with three different types of cars - steam powered, electric and internal combustion. In fact, environmental historian Erica Schoenberger said in 1904 that electric cars made up onethird of all motor vehicles in New York, Chicago and Boston. However, with the discovery of crude oil and the increasing popularity of the relatively inexpensive Ford Model T, electric cars fell by the wayside because of their limited range and the lack of a charging infrastructure.
