A Milestone for Menopause
Cheryl Han’s Orchard Clinic is shifting the conversation around menopause, breaking the silence on overlooked challenges.
Cheryl Han’s Orchard Clinic is sparking conversations around topics society often shies away from — menopause and postpartum conditions. The women’s wellness clinic, born from Han’s personal mission of rediscovery after being retrenched in 2019, has since blossomed into a haven for women navigating the transformative phases of their lives.
At first, Han focused on women’s wellness, specifically pelvic floor issues, drawing from her experience teaching yoga. But the 40-year-old former head of marketing and communications at DHL eCommerce soon noticed an interest among postpartum women and rebranded the clinic with a clear focus on treating postpartum conditions. “When we started to change the understanding in the consumer’s mind, customers came in. That’s when Orchard Clinic introduced more postpartum treatments,” she notes. Later on, Han’s encounter with a woman in her 70s feeling out of place at the clinic sparked a new direction. This encounter became the catalyst for embracing menopausal treatments, broadening the clinic’s scope organically.
While machines are essential in Orchard Clinic’s programmes, they also aim to foster a sense of community through custom plans, complimentary yoga, pilates sessions, and nutritional guidance. According to Han, the communal aspect is vital, offering women going through similar life phases a platform to share experiences and find strength. “When our customers come for classes, they meet other women who are going through the same phase in life. And that’s when the community comes alive as they find strength among each other.”
Ultimately, Han’s methodology surpasses treating physical symptoms; she strives to empower women emotionally and psychologically. Orchard Clinic isn’t merely a healthcare provider but has metamorphosed into a sanctuary where women can find understanding, guidance and a nurturing community. The resonance of its philosophy is evident in the establishment of three Orchard Clinics within a span of three years.
Reflecting on the growth of Orchard Clinic, Han expresses amazement, stating, “When I started Orchard Clinic, my goal was just to ensure I had a salary for myself.”
