Two finalists to represent Singapore at the AirAsia Runway Ready Designer Search 2017
THE THIRD ANNUAL AirAsia Runway Ready Designer Search (AARRDS) has announced two finalists to represent Singapore at the regional Grand Finale in Kuala Lumpur next month. Fashion design students Sil Vu Minh Duc and Fedri are in the running to showcase a capsule collection that’ll debut on the runway at KL Fashion Week Ready to Wear 2018 (KLFW RTW).
The competition’s ten- city audition stop around ten ASEAN countries promises the winning designer $8,000 to be put towards developing a collection as well as a six-page fashion spread in AirAsia’s inflight magazine, Travel3Sixty.
Auditions in April drew participants from LASALLE College of the Arts, Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Raffles Design Institute and yet more, but Vu and Fedri stood out for their creativity, originality, consistency, practicality and adherence to the ASEAN theme.
The Singapore judging panel – among them fashion designers and editors – were joined by AirAsia Singapore CEO Logan Velaitham and KLFW RTW founder Andrew Tan. Next month’s grand finale will also feature designers from India, Japan, China, South Korea and Australia.
