Hot hatches get me excited, because they’re red-hot runabouts for blue-collar petrolheads like myself. My chequered history of personal hot-hatches has several fast flags – Italy (one Fiat), Japan (two Hondas and one Suzuki) and Germany (one Volkswagen). When the time comes to replace my German go-faster hatchback, I may have to consider the KoreanGerman newcomer on the cover of this issue – the i30 N (pg 64).
The promising 2-litre pocketrocket makes this hot-hatch fanboy feel the need for speed, heart and Seoul. The Hyundai also makes me feel the urge to eat at Chicken Up and down a bottle of Hite beer, while listening to catchy K-pop songs and playing with a clever Samsung smartphone.
