Cruise Holiday
Last October, my mum and some of her colleagues were planning to go on a 3-night cruise. She asked me if I would like to go along with them since it was going to be the school holidays. Of course, I said ‘YES!’ I had never been on a cruise. She got my heart pumping with excitement when she told me that the ship had 15 decks!
We checked into the ship around noon. We were all quite hungry and decided to have lunch first. The buffet spread was mind-blowing. Every cuisine you could think of was up for grabs!
The best part of the lunch buffet was the selection of mouth-watering desserts. My mum, who is a big fan of cheesecake, was delightfully spoilt for choice as she stood before the variety of cheesecakes.
After a safety briefing in the afternoon, I kept myself busy reading a book and solving puzzles, while Mum and her colleagues had a meeting in the library.
We spent our first evening walking around the ship, taking in the scenic views and exploring all the facilities. We also managed to catch a spectacular ice-skating show in the ship’s inbuilt ice-skating rink. It was terrifying for me to watch some of the risky stunts performed by the dancers. Still, the way they glided, spun and lifted other dancers in the air was a beautiful sight to behold. It was such a pity that photography was not allowed.
Every night when we returned to our rooms, we would be greeted by the next day’s planner and a towel folded into an interesting shape. On one of the afternoons, there was a towel-folding demonstration by the staff. They showed us how to fold towels to make them look like snakes, bunnies, teddy bears and my favourite - elephants.
Over the three days on the cruise, we had a lot of fun; played ping-pong, mini-golf, went ice-skating and we even watched a poolside movie on the giant screen on one of the evenings.
The entire experience was incredible! I can’t wait to go on a cruise again!
