1 Everyone gathers around the table and wishes each other auspicious greetings such as Gong Xi Fa Cai (Congratulations for your wealth). 2 Raw fish is added to symbolise abundance throughout the year. 3 Pomelo or lime is added for luck and prosperity. 4 Various spices are added for greater fortune and prosperity.

5 Oil and plum sauce are poured over the ingredients to symbolise an increased flow of money.

6 Shredded carrots are added for blessings of good luck.

7 Green radish is added to symbolise eternal youth.

8 Shredded white radish is added to symbolise fast progress.

9 Peanut crumbs are sprinkled to wish a household be filled with valuable possessions.

10 Sesame seeds are sprinkled to symbolise prosperity for businesses.

11 Deep-fried crackers in the shape of golden pillows are added to represent great wealth.

12 Everyone stands up and tosses the ingredients seven times while shouting “Lo hei, Lo hei!” or other auspicious phrases.
