The prawn-filled version of this meat roll is more popular in Singapore, but I prefer this crabmeat version as it has a more delicate flavour. The common dip offered is sweet bean sauce given the influence from Hokkien cuisine, but the traditional dip for this dish is kumquat oil. Here I share a recipe for a pineapple-chilli sauce dip for a tasty twist to the dish.
