Woman With A Mission

ZbBZ (Singapore) - - IN FOCUS -

Dr Loh May-Han has been in public healthcare for 16 years and she has often been asked if she would leave for private practice like her husband Adrian Ng, who is also an anaesthesiologist.

But for her, working in public healthcare, teaching, engaging in administrative work and conducting research give her a deep sense of satisfaction and achievement. She has received numerous awards for her work and teaching.

On what drives her, Dr Loh said: “The work of the physician can have an impact on the patient’s life.”

She called to mind a physician’s creed, which is “to heal sometimes, to relieve often, to comfort always”. “That I can play a role in a person’s life, and hold the patient’s hand before surgery and soothe his or her anxiety is a very meaningful thing to me.”
