LA CUCINA DI CIRO
BEST FOR A celebration dinner. FOOD This long-time family-run favourite is all about the unfussy but decadent and comforting flavours tied to the cherished personality. Mr Ciro, chef and owner, will appear to say hello to his regulars, of which there are many. A well-timed small bowl of starter gorgonzola snails, not too rich, is a perfect start. A smoking hot pan of mussels tossed in all the right ingredients – tomato, white wine, garlic and fresh herbs – and served with imperfectly cut but perfectly crispy fries is a saucy follow-up. The al dente porcini risotto is a creamy delight. You can also look forward to fantastic seafood, steaks, duck, adventurous vegetarian fare and simple salads. End with a delicious crêpe. DRINKS A carefully considered but broad enough list of local wines and international bubbles. SERVICE Waiters are professional, but more attention could be given to sharing the specials. AMBIENCE It’s cosy despite the pared down décor. (ZKV)
