FLAMES
BEST FOR Wonderful views paired with unpretentious fare. FOOD For starters, the selection includes an appealing salmon cured with apple and fennel. The stunning ribbons of vegetable salad with a poached egg and fresh green dressing is memorable. The aged meats are of admirable quality, like the
Black Angus grass-fed sirloin and Kalahari rump. For dessert, crème brûlée is made even more delicious with rich lemon curd and there is an excellent range of sorbets – try the fig and yoghurt. DRINKS As expected, the wine list is expansive, varying from the staggeringly priced to almost bargain wines by the glass. Craft beers feature, too. SERVICE All service is very good. AMBIENCE The view from the Flames terrace is extraordinary and is the restaurant’s greatest feature. Good lighting and comfortable seats make it an appealing space. (MLE)
