BEST FOR Value-for-money food and a taste of estate living. FOOD Copperleaf, operated by CL Golf Catering, is a different type of clubhouse restaurant: it’s vibey and fun. This is an all-day operation, so in addition to a good selection of breakfasts, they also offer light meals, sandwiches, salads such as the Parma-and-pear salad, and a fairly easy-eating dinner menu. Starters such as trinchado with toasted baguette, the pasta with bacon and shrimp, or the brinjal and zucchini go down well. There are also pizzas, burgers, schnitzels, steaks, calamari and pork ribs – all served with a good selection of sides. DRINKS The wine list comprises three champagnes, various local MCCs and a small but decent selection of wines, including some Ernie Els wines. SERVICE The management and wait staff are handson and attentive. AMBIENCE High ceilings with exposed beams, neutral colours and attractive textures contribute to an atmosphere that is far less clubhouse and much more modern home. (HF)
