RAMBLING VINE

-

BEST FOR Fine dining in a serene setting. FOOD The menu is old-school, ranging from classics such as avocado Ritz and a goat’s cheese parcel with asparagus, beetroot coulis and olive salsa to the likes of seafood bisque, beef carpaccio and vegetable gnocchi. Mains include a classical chateaubriand flambéed at the table, beef fillet with sherry reduction and pea-and-spinach risotto, duo of duck, and a prawnand-monkfish ravioli with Thai curry sauce. Round off your meal with chocolate crêpes, mocha tiramisu or chocolate fondant. DRINKS The wine list offers sections for most of the traditional South African varietals, as well as some international bottles. SERVICE Waiters are attentive and functional. Hotel staff are friendly and helpful. AMBIENCE The restaurant is set up in tables of two or four with brightly upholstered fuchsia pink and teal chairs, with some wooden screens giving an almost oriental feel. (HF)
