LA FRASCA

-

BEST FOR Casual Sunday-night suppers with friends and family. FOOD If you’re a fan of wafer-thin bases and creative toppings, La Frasca should be your go-to pizza spot in the city centre. The pizza menu stretches to three pages, with more options scribbled on a chalkboard. Everything here is top quality, from the stoneground flour to home-cured wood-fired hams. The Pizza Saporita, with spicy pork sausage, ricotta and a touch of chilli is excellent. There’s also a compact menu of uncomplicated Italian plates: the home-made pasta is always popular, from papardelle with slow-cooked lamb to ever-dependable spinach-and-ricotta ravioli. Desserts are equally traditional; try the classic tiramisu or silky chocolate panna cotta. DRINKS Decent wine list centred on well-known Cape estates and a handful of Italian bottles too. There’s also a limited craft beer selection. SERVICE Superb and attentive, despite the casual ambience. AMBIENCE A relaxed feel, with the bar and pizza oven dominating the back of the restaurant. The best tables are by the window. (RH)
