FISHERMAN’S COTTAGE

-

BEST FOR A seafood feast. FOOD The rustic charm and honest fare is a seafood lover’s delight. The emphasis here is on fresh, quality seafood. Fisherman’s soup prepared in a bouillabaisse-style with fresh mussels, fish and calamari is a comforting way to start. Crumbed bone marrow with red wine snails and onion marmalade might pique the interest of the adventurous diner. The lavish seafood platters are actually what you’re after. Worth exploring is their specials board: expect items like gratinated smoked fish pie or Malay beef curry. A perfectly executed crème brûlée, malva pudding or English stilton and port are some of the dessert choices. DRINKS Predominantly local wines, varied in price, from some interesting boutique farms in the valley. SERVICE Efficiency is not their strong suit but they make up for it with warm smiles and a friendly manner. AMBIENCE Charming old fisherman’s cottage decorated with seafaring relics from the past.
