Remake of all-time favourite has local moviegoers excited

The all-new live-action adaption of the The Lion King is in cinemas today. This is a remake of one of the most beloved movies, featuring photorealistic CGI (real-time computer graphics) animals that look like the real thing. The movie is about Simba, who idolises his father and the king, Mufasa. However, not everyone in the kingdom celebrates the new cub’s arrival. Scar, Mufasa’s brother and former heir to the throne, has plans of his own. We went to the streets to find out who will watch the remake and what they are expecting. This is what they had to say:

Ojay Maritz “My favourite character is Scar and I will make sure that I do not miss this remake of The Lion King. I look forward to see Simba and Scar in action.” Mbali Mbowane “I would like to watch the movie but I cannot afford it. Though my favourite character in the movie is Simba.”

Trish Breytenbach “I won’t miss the remake of The Lion King, I love it so much that I named my dog Rafiki, because he is my favourite character. My husband and I have planned to make it a date night, so we are not taking the kids with us. My son thinks he is a lion so he would roar throughout the movie.”

Albert Schoeman “I look forward to watching the character Zazu. He is my favourite and I want to see and hear how John Oliver will play the voice of this character.”

Ananda Daly “I won’t watch the movie. I never liked the previous one and I am not planning to try the remake. My favourite childhood animated movie is Powerpuff Girls.”

Andrea Mey “It is my favourite movie and I want to compare it to the previous one. There is a good lesson to learn from this movie and I will make sure that I watch this remake.”

Provide Mnisi “I am definitely going to watch the remake of this movie. I love watching Timon and Pumbaa doing mischief. I like it and it makes me laugh.”
