Unity through diversity comes alive at MP Show

MBOMBELA - Mpumalanga Show 2019 is going to be a carnival.

The annual show aims to celebrate the province’s heritage and once again create opportunit­ies to benefit individual­s, stakeholde­rs and Mpumalanga as a whole.

This year’s theme is “Carnival”. It takes place from August 29 to September 1 at Mbombela Stadium.

It will feature exhibition stalls, various breeds of animals and livestock, cultural aspect integratio­n, various competitio­ns and live music entertainm­ent.

This year’s live entertainm­ent will have a “local is lekker” theme on Thursday, a sokkie on Friday, a diverse mix on Saturday, and a gospel and jazz festival on the Sunday. The main artists who will perform are Juanita du Plessis, Kurt Darren, DJ Ossewa, Lira, Khaya Mthethwa and Rebecca Malope.

There is also a number of new additions to Mpumalanga Show 2019 to ensure that it is bigger and better than before and absolutely awes en entertains all in attendance.

These include miniature horses and Monster Truck shows.

Favourites from last year, such as a variety of competitio­ns, workshops, info sessions and product demonstrat­ions, will return. There will also be birds of prey, a snake park, a crocodile dunking tank and goat milking to educate the little ones while they are entertaine­d. The Mpumalanga Show is unique to the province. It showcases the best of Mpumalanga with special emphasis on agricultur­e, forestry, wildlife, tourism and mining.

Its slogan of “Unity through diversity” will come alive at the Standard Bank Cultural Village where traditiona­l dance groups, representi­ng the diverse cultural groups of the country, will perform.

The Mpumalanga Show is also for the entire family to enjoy, do and see together. Save the date and watch this space for further details.

Entrance fees are R250 for a weekend ticket which includes Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Thursday costs R50 for adults and R20 per person for school groups. Friday is R100 for adults and R50 for pensioners. On Saturday and Sunday R120 gets adults in and R60 pensioners.
