Top-notch wildlife estate management at Likweti
Likweti Bushveld Farm Estate is undoubtedly one of South Africa’s most unique residential estates.
Only 100 hectares of the total 765 have been set aside for residential development, leaving a large portion of natural bushveld unspoilt for plains game to roam freely and residents to enjoy.
In addition, 20 hectares of the estate are being farmed as a macadamia orchard, generating future income for the homeowners’ association.
Managing such a large and variegated estate is no small feat and requires an energetic management team that is dedicated to keeping Likweti looking topnotch through accurate planning.
Likweti Estate manager, Zenta Delport, says managing an estate such as this comes with the responsibility to sustain a healthy environment for both owners and wildlife.
Environmental management is especially important to Delport. “We’re about to implement our annual block burns for new grass regeneration and tick control. We’re also measuring the animal carrying capacity of the estate, and soon we’ll be doing the capture and removal to sustain veld conditions for all animals to live healthily”.
Security at Likweti Estate is a top priority and as such is taken very seriously by management and residents alike.
The management of this includes strict access control, 24-hour gate monitoring, regular fence patrol with sensors connected to control room response, security cameras and a dedicated armed response vehicle on the premises, all firmly in place.
Likweti Estate is also proud to have its own waterworks, independent of the municipal grid which is managed on a regular basis by a professional and experienced consultant.
Last but not least, Likweti takes pride in the maintenance of infrastructure such as roads, fencing, gatehouse and entrance gardens, which always look beautifully nurtured no matter the season.
Overall, Likweti shows model management of a wildlife estate and residents are proud to be able to call Likweti Bushveld Farm Estate their home.
