KABOKWENI – Two brothers from this kasi are cooking up quite a storm for members of the community. If you are looking for some lekker skop (cow head) and mogudu (cow insides) or vetkoeks and scrumptious potato chips, then look no further, these two brothers have got you covered.

The siblings, Sifiso Nkosi and Elvis Green have the entire community covered with some of their delicious and mouthwatering dishes they cook in their roadside eatery at the gate of their home.

The two gentlemen started their business as a means to provide for their family following years of being unemployed.

Their popular mini eatery is called Siyaziphandela Kitchen.

“We used to rely on temporary jobs but with the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, work opportunities have been so limited. It has become very hard to find any piece jobs around as potential employers also don’t have the money. So we decided to start our own kitchen, serving anything from scrumptious potato chips,

vetkoeks, fresh vegetables and skop,” said Nkosi.

The brothers said since they had opened their business right in the middle of the township’s busiest buildings, such as the Nsikazi Magistrate’s Court and two local clubs, they have managed to provide for their family.

“We are not paying any rent, ours is to ensure that we serve our customers clean delicious food from a sparkling clean environment and adhere to all the necessary measures to prevent the spread of the pandemic among our customers,” added Green.

Services start around 09:00 and the two workaholics work until late in the night, depending on the need of their customers.

Although they said they have not properly registered their business, they are planning to do so to comply with the municipal by-laws.
